Megan Riehl is an art educator who creates a safe and welcoming environment for students and encourages skills such as empathy, critical thinking and using art as activism. She has received two degrees from the University of Arizona with two majors; Art and Visual Culture Education and Studio Art.  She also earned her Associate of Arts at Pima Community College before transferring to the University of Arizona. Megan works with many mediums including oil paint, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media, but she mainly enjoys portrait paintings. Her work centers on the idea of relationships and empathy, and what it means to make an “accurate” representation of another person with a limited perception of them. Her work with watercolor portraits has won The Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild Scholarship Contest in both 2015 and 2020.
